Henri PICOU
Prix de Rome en 1853, Henri PICOU représente parfaitement l’école classique française de la deuxième partie du XIXe siècle.
Elève de Paul DELAROCHE, il se lia d’amitié avec GÉROME et GLEYRE,
dont l’influence se fait parfaitement sentir dans cette oeuvre.
Henri Picou participe à partir de 1847 au Salon des Artistes Français. Il obtient des récompenses en 1848 et 1857 et y présente régulièrement des scènes allégoriques ou mythologiques, prétexte à représenter des jeunes femmes dénudées évoluant dans des décors antiques.
