Jean Le MAYEUR de MERPRES
École belge XIX°-XX° siècle. Peintre de paysages et de marine. Postimpressionniste. Avec Isidore Meyers et Jacques Rosseels, il a fait partie du groupe de paysagistes de Terremonde. Il débuta à Bruxelles en 1870, et a, depuis cette date, régulièrement exposé aux Salons de la Ville. Il a également participé au Salon des Artistes Français de Paris, y obtenant deux médailles de bronze à l’occasion des Expositions Universelles de 1889 et 1900. En 1891, il a obtenu une médaille d’or à Munich. Jean Le MAYEUR de MERPRES a été fait chevalier de l’Ordre de Léopold et de l’Ordre de Saint-Michel de Bavière.
