Georges SCOTT
SCOTT de PLAGNOLLES Georges Bertin : Né le 10 Juin 1873 à Paris. Mort en 1942. XIXe-XXe siècles. Français. Peintre d’histoire, sujets militaires, nus, portaits, paysages. Elève de DETAILLE, il fut pendant la Première guerre mondiale, peintre aux armées. Il exposa à Paris, au Salon des Artistes Français, dont il était sociétaire depuis 1897. Il fut fait chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur en 1912, puis officier en 1928.
Il fut un collaborateur fidèle de la revue L’Illustration, journal qui traitait les sujets d’actualité par le texte et l’image. S’il fut avant tout peintre, aquarelliste et dessinateur de sujets militaires (scènes observées pendant la guerre, reconstitutions historiques), il peignit également des sujets très divers, en général à l’aquarelle, tels les personnages de la corrida, des fleurs, des nus, des paysages d’Espagne ou de Hollande, des vues de plages et ports du nord de la France et de la Bretagne.
