Gustave ALAUX
Gustave ALAUX : Né le 21 août 1887 à Bordeaux (Gironde). Mort le 27 février 1965 à Paris. XXe siècle. Peintre de portraits, marines, décorateur, graveur, illustrateur.
Il fut élève de Marcel Baschet et de Henri Royer à l’école des Beaux-Arts de Paris. Il a exposé au Salon des Artistes Français dès 1913 et en fut sociétaire, médaille d’argent 1920, médaille d’or 1927, hors concours, Légion d’Honneur et Prix James Bertrand 1928, Prix Jehan Peccard 1932, une nouvelle médaille d’or à l’occasion de l’Exposition Internationale de 1937, officier de la Légion d’Honneur 1950. Il figura aussi au Salon d’Automne en 1921 et 1922, et à la Société Coloniale en 1941 et 1942. Il a montré des ensembles de ses oeuvres dans de nombreuses expositions personnelles à Paris et en province. En 1926, il fut nommé Peintre officiel de la Marine; en 1946 membre de l’Académie de Marine. Hors de France, il fut chevalier de l’ordre d’Isabelle la Catholique en 1926, officier de l’ordre du Mérite d’Haïti en 1938.
