Henry BOURCE
Henry BOURCE : Artiste belge né le 2 décembre 1816 ou 1826 à Anvers. Mort en 1899 à Anvers. Peintre d’histoire, scènes de genre. Elève de Dyckmans, puis de Wapper à l’Académie Royale d’Anvers, il se rendit à Paris où il rencontra Ary Scheffer. Il reçut une médaille à La Haye en 1857 et exposa au Salon de Paris en 1875. Il voyagea en Europe et en Amérique du Nord, d’où il rapporta des scènes typiques de ces régions, tel “Campement dans le Grand Nord”. Parmi ses oeuvres, citons: “Ruines”, “Lendemain d’une tempête sur la côte de Hollande”, “Marie-Antoinette quittant le Temple”, oeuvre achetée pour la grande -duchesse Marie de Russie, “Sauvetage d’un équipage français par les pilotes d’Anvers” et “Retour des vendangeurs”, acheté par l’Art Union de Dublin.
