Albert LEBOURG
Originaire de Monfort-sur-Risle, dans l’Eure, Albert Lebourg a 17 ans quand il vient à Rouen travailler chez un architecte. Le soir il suit les cours de l’Ecole municipale de peinture et de dessin. Préferant la nature à la copie des plâtres antiques, il va chercher ses “modèles” dans la campagne environnante.
Après quatre années passées à Alger comme professeur de dessin, sa palette s’éclaircit. De retour en France, il s’installe à Paris et expose aux côtés des impressionnistes. Comme eux, il aime saisir les aspects fugitifs de la vallée de la Seine transposés sur la toile en touches délicates de gris, de vert et de mauve; parfois quelques taches plus sombres signalent une présence humaine.
De nombreux voyages le conduisent vers de nouveaux paysages (Auvergne, Hollande, Belgique, Angleterre…), mais c’est à la Bouille, près de Rouen, qu’il choisit de se retirer pour assister au spectacle de la nature, loin des modes et des mouvements picturaux.
