Jean BÉRAUD
Né à Saint-Petersbourg en 1849, mort en 1936. École française. Peintre de composition à personnages, portraits, paysages animé et aquarelliste. Elève de Bonnat, il commença ses envois au Salon à partir de 1873. Il fut un des fondateurs de la Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts où il exposa entre 1910 et 1929. Sociétaire des Artistes Français, il fut membre du jury hors-concours. Il obtint la troisième médaille en 1882, la deuxième en 1883, puis la médaille d’or en 1889. Il prit part à l’Exposition Universelle de 1889. Il fut officier de la Légion d’Honneur.
S’inspirant de la vie quotidienne pour se créer un genre particulier, Béraud reste le peintre anecdotique de la vie parisienne entre 1880 et 1900.
