David Emile Joseph, Baron de NOTER
Né à Gand en 1818. Mort en 1892.
Peintre de natures mortes et de fleurs à l’origine, fils du peintre Jean-Baptiste de Noter, il expose à Paris en 1853, s’y installe en 1864. Il obtient une médaille d’or au Salon de Bruxelles en 1854. Installé à Paris en 1864 et naturalisé français, il vit au Vésinet en 1867. Il voyage en Algérie et s’y établit à la fin de sa vie. En 1879, exposant une nature morte au Salon, il donne comme adresse “le Nador, près Marengo, Province d’Alger. Il participe à la vie artistique d’Alger dès 1870, année où le journal L’Akhbar mentionne qu’il vient d’offrir au musée une étude de fleurs (8 avril). Au Salon de 1874, il expose Raisins de Kabylie, Cour de maison mauresque, Café Maure et Rue à Alger.
